Before the weekly links, you can read here our Carnival Proclamation, that Rocío Gómez and Martin read last Tuesday in front of your parents, teachers and mates. You were wonderful, as well as the presentation made by Laura and Uther, and all the students and teachers that participated in the celebration.
Pregón de Carnaval 2017 - C.E.I.P. “Ciudad de Córdoba”
Queridos compañeros, alumnos, padres, maestros y demás
profesionales, de éste nuestro colegio y de todo el mundo mundial:
Antes de decir adiós
al breve mes de febrero
celebramos, como siempre
un día carnavalero.
Salimos de nuestras aulas
con aire profesional,
vestidos para el trabajo,
más no para trabajar.
Sin gatos, ni sindicatos,
sin sueldos… que ya vendrán,
simplemente disfrutando
de esta fiesta popular.
Camareros, de tres años,
médicos, de cuatro ya,
si alguien se nos desmaya,
bien atendido estará.
Pintores de brocha gorda,
de fina, lo somos más,
bomberos, “apagaincendios”
también os atenderán.
Domadores de leones,
y fieras varias vendrán,
gondoleros de Venecia,
que lejos de Italia están.
Submarinistas valientes,
sin agua bucearán,
Y cocineros fervientes,
que hoy no cocinarán.
¡La sardina, no se come!,
aunque se haya muerto ya.
Hoy juntos la enterraremos,
Con mucho duelo y pesar.
¡FELIZ DÍA DE CARNAVAL!
English
This week, we starting doing the test of unit 5, about London. Then, we continued on Wednesday with unit 6, titled "Crazy Inventions" and, finally, we have done some preparation exercises for the Ket exam, this Friday.
We have watched this funny video about crazy inventions made by children, in the famous show of Ellen Degeneres:
Natural Science
In the unit about matter, we have studied the different ways in which we can separate mixtures, such as filtration, evaporation, distillation and dissolution. We have also started to talk about chemical changes.
Apart from some interesting videos from the webpage "Elesapiens", we have watched these videos from youtube:
Distillation and filtration
Separating a Mixture of Salt and Sand
What are endothermic and exothermic reactions?
Social Science
In Social Science, we have continued talking about the Spanish Civil War and its consequences, and we have started a new lesson about Spain during Franco's dictatorship. Because I was born in 1963, as a child, I lived the last years of this dictatorship. So, I have talked about my own experience and how the social and political transition really started a few years before the death of Franco. As an example, in group A (by the moment) we have watched a short video about the inauguration of the labor university of Cheste, in 1970, where I was lucky to study between 1974 and 1977, the 6º, 7º and 8º years of the old E.G.B. In that place, we were taught what democracy was, by wonderful teachers and educators who were fighting for liberty and democracy from the inside:
El Centro de Orientación de Universidades Laborales en el No-Do
We have also watched part of a video of the TV series "Cuéntame como pasó". Specifically, the chapter in which Admiral Carrero Blanco was killed by the Basque terrorist group ETA in 1973. If you want to watch it, you have here the link:
Have a good weekend!
